Return to the Heart of the Father: A Message for the Child of God who was Never Called to Pursue Money

by Dr Theodora Ekwevugbe

Dear loved of God,

1. You were never purposed to chase after money.

That was never your portion.

That was never your identity.

That was never your purpose.

You were not sent to earth to pursue paper, gold, digits, or assets.

You were sent to carry a divine assignment, to partner with a heavenly vision, and to be an agent of God’s will on earth.

2. Your Eyes Were Always Meant for the Father

Your focus belongs on the Father –

He is Source of your life,

The giver of your breath,

& the architect of your destiny.

He is not merely a Provider;

He is your Origin.

He is your Direction.

He is the One who designs, assigns and sends.

To shift your gaze to the treasures in His hands

While ignoring the passion in His heart, is to miss your assignment.

3. You Are a Reflection of Divine Passion

You are not just a child of God.

You are a mirror of His mind,

A vessel of His longings,

A carrier of His burdens.

Your heart is meant to carry his desires.

His passions are meant to become your passions.

You were not designed to hustle after provision—

You were designed to move in sync with His will,

And let provision follow that obedience.

4. Heavenly Order: Vision First, Provision Follows

Here is the divine sequence:

• First comes the Father’s heart,

• Then comes the Father’s vision,

• And then comes the resources to build it.

Provision is not your master;

It is your assistant.

Money is not your goal;

It is your messenger.

It is drawn—yes, magnetized—to those who walk in alignment with God.

5. Money is Designed to Follow God’s Vision

Money searches for visionaries.

Not dreamers of ambition,

But carriers of God’s burden.

When you walk in your kingdom mandate,

Money follows like a well-trained soldier,

Sent to supply, support, and establish

The things of God through your hands.

You become the master.

It becomes the servant.

You command it.

You instruct it.

You teach it to serve the will of God.

6. When You Shift Your Gaze

But when your gaze turns to money—

When you become distracted from the One whose mission and values you were born to serve.

He gently tries to redirect you.

He calls you back.

He calls you to focus.

But often, focus can feel like boredom.

Obedience can feel too slow.

Waiting on God can feel like a waste of time.

Still, he lovingly draws you back.

He persuades you to stay and wait in that slow season,

To embrace the building season,

& to trust His pace.

But if you continue to resist,

If you continue to force your way forward,

If you fight against his wisdom instruction boundaries,

He will loosen his grip.

Why? Because love doesn’t insist on his own way.

So he lets you go and do what’s in your heart, not in abandonment – never that.

But out of yielding to you.

He loosens His hold so you don’t break the relationship trying to kick against his guards around you.

He lets you roam.

Still within the boundaries of His mercy.

Still protected, but free to wander.

And as you taste the fruit of your detour—

The sin, the sorrow, the distraction,

The money that comes, but brings sorrows

While pursuing with money as the main objective, you will come to crossroads where you ask:

• What values can I compromise?

• What can I sacrifice to get ahead?

• Is this still ethical? Will God understand?

Your conscience begins to dull.

Your clarity begins to fade.

Your heart is pierced through with sorrows.

Guilt burdens you.

You argue with your own spirit.

You start convincing yourself that God is still in it—

Even though you know He left that path long ago.

You feel the heaviness of compromised values.

The ache of a soul pierced by what you thought was as ultimate success

And there—sometimes painfully—

You become a parable,

An example for others on what not to do.

Don’t be that parable.

Don’t become that cautionary tale.

Stay where the Father sees.

Stay in His gaze.

Return to the Heart of God

Return to the Father’s gaze.

Let your heart burn again for what burns in His.

Build what He is building.

Say what He is saying.

Love what He is loving.

And watch as resources—earthly and heavenly—

Rush to your side

To fulfill the will of the One who sent you.
