Of course, a message written to nourish your spirit and feed your heart will seem unfamiliar to your natural mind. You do not yet understand its language, because you are not yet standing in the place from which it speaks. The Word must pierce through the flesh, tear through the veil of the soul, and awaken your spirit. It must break open the hard soil to plant the incorruptible seed.
Now to you, dear believer, who finds the Bible dull—who has no desire, no interest, no hunger for the Word of God—yet you know deep down that you should read it: the most powerful thing you can do is to set a schedule you will honour above all else. Fix a time, a space, a rhythm—and show up faithfully.
Do yourself a favour and read it in a translation you can understand, one that draws you in. Start there. You won’t always remain there – with the same translation, but start.
Read it like a story. Read it like a whisper from heaven. Read it like a treasure map, or a letter from home. However you read, just stay. The only thing that matters in this important beginning is that you remain.
Because the Word of God is doing its work deep within you—long before you see any fruit on the outside. That internal work may not register to your five senses. So by your own assessment, it may seem like nothing is happening, like nothing is changing. But oh, child of God—the Word of God only ever profits a man. Always.
It is not speaking to your outer man. It is speaking to the hidden man of the heart. Deep is calling to deep. The eternal Word is summoning the eternal you. And while your mind may still be wandering, and your flesh may still be unimpressed, your spirit is eating. Your heart is feasting.
So, stay there. Stay there. Trust the process. Trust the power. Trust the integrity of the Word to do what it says it will do. Even when you feel nothing. Even when the pages feel dry. Stay.
There will come a day when light will break forth. There will be a moment when revelation will leap from the page like fire in your bones. When understanding will explode in your mind, and your heart will burn as you walk with Him in the Word. But until that day—until the dawn breaks and the morning star rises—your only duty is to stay.
Stay.
God bless you.
