Thought Control – What to Do When Your Mind Runs Wild

by Dr Theodora Banigo Ekwevugbe

Hello young people

I have come today with one important thought.

That thought is thought control and taking your thoughts captive.

This is one of the most important life skills you can ever develop. The ability to notice a thought, challenge it, and choose what stays.

To do this, you must first create a peaceful inner environment. A clear order of what thoughts are allowed in your mind.

Philippians 4 gives us a beautiful, wordy sieve

A filter for every thought we think.

If it does not pass the test, it does not enter.

Thoughts like:

These are lies of the enemy. They often come in first person so they feel like your own voice.

Sometimes the enemy even uses truths about others in a propaganda style.

He takes a person’s real fault and magnifies it, replaying it in your mind until it creates

 anger

 distance

 resentment

But remember this.

God is a peacemaker

He will never use someone’s faults to create division in your heart.

So when those thoughts start piling up, pause and ask:

Then ask:

Is this where God would lead me

Is this godly

The enemy is clever. He often uses things that are provable, true, or supported by evidence. But the evidence is not the issue.

The agenda behind the thought is the issue.

So do not only ask, “Is this true”

Ask:

What is this pushing me toward

Try this.

Practice it.

And let me know if it works for you.

Together, we grow in peace and form a whole mind.

Your big auntie,

Dr. Theodora Banigo Ekwevugbe
