by Dr Theodora Ekwevugbe

Hello Readers!

So in this blog post you will learn about Gratitude and why it matters in your life and the benefit it brings if practised. Sometimes you may have noticed how some people seem to attract more good things into their lives, and you may wonder if it is a magic?  It’s not magic; it’s gratitude. And today, I want to share a simple practice that can transform your perspective and bring more joy into your life and endeavours.

Why Gratitude Matters More Than You Think

Lack of gratitude has been a major problem for some people; it has destroyed relationships, deprived opportunities, and created a sense of entitlement which will also result in selfishness and self centred and lastly it can create unhappiness. So these are what lack of gratitude may result in in your life,  And gratitude is  one of the most powerful habits you can develop.

When you practise gratitude regularly, you’re essentially unlocking a door to more abundance, favour, and contentment in your life.Lack of gratitude has been a major problem for some people; it has destroyed relationships, deprived opportunities, and created a sense of entitlement which will also result in selfishness and self centred and lastly it can create unhappiness. So these are what lack of gratitude may result in in your life,  And gratitude is  one of the most powerful habits you can develop. When you practise gratitude regularly, you’re essentially unlocking a door to more abundance, favour, and contentment in your life.

The Simple Gratitude Practice Your Family needs.

Here’s what works beautifully for families, and it takes less than 10 minutes:

1. Get a simple book to begin the journey.

To start this journey get a gratitude journal for yourself; it doesn’t have to be fancy, just a simple notebook will be fine. Also, obtain one for each of your children, as they should also begin journaling their expressions of gratitude.

2. Make it a habit.

Form a daily habit with it, every night at bedtime, before  planning out tomorrow’s to-do list, take a few minutes to write down what you’re grateful for from the day. It could be something big or something small; maybe it’s a kind word from a friend, a delicious meal, or simply making it through a challenging day. Find something to be grateful for.

3. Involve your children in this practice.

Getting kids involved is a way of building them early so they could have the mentality of showing gratitude when get older,  for kids old enough to write, have them jot down their own grateful thoughts for the day. And for younger kids who can’t write yet, let them tell you what they’re thankful for by speaking it out loud. With this they  will start developing the spirit of gratitude.

What You’ll Gain from Constantly Practicing Gratitude

  • A changed perspective for each person.
  • It teaches contentment.
  • Ability to see the goodness of God when it comes.
  • Improved mood, peace and joy.
  • You bring about increased favours.
  • You rewire your brain by thinking about the good and through the process of writing it down.

Making It Stick

I know this practice might some point want to seem hard because it isn’t just about  starting, it’s keeping it going. And here my advice: don’t aim for perfection. If you miss a night, just pick it up the next day. If your kids forget, gently remind them. Make it part of your bedtime routine, like brushing teeth and I guarantee you will get used to it.

Conclusion.

So I believe you enjoyed reading this and you will want to put effort to practice gratitude. It is for the good of everyone to know how to show gratitude and it should be a habit to practice and also teach your children for the beter good of their future, I pray as you show determination to practice may it stick as an habit to you, Amen.
